For those that are doing it, I want to let you know that yesterday was Day 9 of 30 and I did a 34 minute walk. The scale read this morning was 225.6

Today is Day 10 and I will walk with the wife and son again this evening and continue to work on my Post Olympic Depression book.

Know What You Want And……

I was watching Steve Harvey on Oprah yesterday and I must say, I was quite entertained.

I think what Oprah needs is less of Steve Harvey and more of Coach Ferguson.

Ole Coach, coulda whipped those people on that show in shape, in no time flat.

It is unfortunate that people want what they are too scared or too chicken —- to give out.

Case in point. There was one lady on the show that said that she wanted a man with an athletic build and nice frame.

I needn’t tell you that she DID NOT have an athletic build or a nice frame. What makes her think that her mate may not want the same thing. And does she not understand the type of work that it takes to maintain such a frame. She’d probably get in an argument in the first day with such a person. People who eat in and workout in a regimented fashion ALWAYS make others feel uncomfortable at the dinner table. I know, I’ve seen it. The people can’t even enjoy their meal. They feel so bad after watching you eat.

Don’t feel bad, get in line. Get with the program.

If you want excellence then come to the table with excellence.

If you want an athletic build, then come to the table with an athletic build.

Don’t come to the table with napkin, knife and fork and expect me to bring the rice, beans and meat. You are taking….YOU ARE STEALING from the program.

As we used to say back in the day…”You gotta bring som’n to get som’n.”

I think that somewhere along the line we get in these situations where we get so “me’-centered and “me”-focused.

Just recently, I had somebody who just really felt like they had to tell me something instead of thinking about what they were saying. This is dumb… stupid no less. Sometimes you have to put yourself on the other end of what you are getting ready to say and ask yourself if that is the right thing to do without injecting your bias. I’ve made this mistake before as well, so I’m very forgiving when it happens to me.

Such is the case in relationships. Move the selfish stuff out the way.

I’ve counseled couples and heard the husband say, “Well she just won’t lose any w8.”

The wife says, “He won’t help me l.o.s.e. the w8!”

To which I reply, “Did he help you eat!?!?”

And that usually finalizes the discussion. Because the person in this case has a couple of choices. Either you get in the game or you ride the bench. And when you are riding the bench, please understand this………That Means You Ain’t The Starter!!

So with that being said.

Rhadi pleads guilty…..

Yesterday my wife brought home some salad and some pizza.

Although I really dig eating pizza, I refused to eat a piece. And then my wife and I began conversing and laughing and BOOM! Before I knew it, there I was, eating a slice of pizza.

I was not mad nor disappointed, I just see now how quickly we associate food with having a good time. After I realized I was eating it, I shrugged my shoulders and finished it off knowing that I would have to bump my cardio workouts up from 30 minutes to 1 hour for next couple of days.

For those of you who started the thirty day challenge with me yesterday…great! Keep up the good work and keep your email check-ins coming.

You must use the same piece of machinery for the same 30 minutes. Meaning, you can tread water for 20 minutes and swim for 10 but you CANNOT swim for 10 and run for 20. (hey, that’s the rule)

4.You must email ME everyday without skipping a day.

5.You MUST submit your WEIGHT everyday!

Those who complete the full 30 days will receive 4 weeks of P.H.R.E.E. e-coaching from me. And here I guaran-damn-tee you will get the body you are looking for.

If you are willing to do the 30 days of foundational work, I’m willing to help you for the next 30. That way you will have 60 days of training and you will feel better for it.

If you could change one thing…

If you could change one thing about your body, what would it be?

Your arms?

The way your legs look?

The extra-ness you have on the side?

What would it be?

I certainly can’t offer you a plastic surgery solution but I can give you a surgical procedure that require CUTTING the negative things out of your mind about yourself and inserting in the positive.

I’ve been reading a lot lately and I usually rotate a couple of book at a time. I just finished the last chapter of Fooled by Randomness and am now reading the Psychology of Persuasion by Cialdini.

What I’ve been noticing from reading is that people form opinions of others and opinions of you and what you need to do is CUT OUT all opinions which have been formed about you and cut out the negative ones that you keep and adhere to and create a new opinion of yourself.

Here’s something my Dad taught me that I thought was absolutely ridiculous and silly at the time, but it works.

My ole man used to tell me to get up in the morning and look in the mirror and say, “Rhadi, I love you. You are the best in the world and a champion and you will do whatever it is that you set your mind to doing today.”

I used to say it over and over and over and over and over and over again. And I used to say it at the Olympic Training Center.  As I got older I added to my positive affirmation statements but what’s most important is that my morning affirmation statements started working like a magical FORCE FIELD against negativity.

People would see me and think that I was arrogant.

Their opinion meant NOTHING to me. I was focused. While they were talking. I was doing. I was writing books, shooting DVDs, scripting marketing campaigns, creating business relationships, taking classes, working on my PhD, fine tuning my parenting skills, become a better friend, lover and mate for my wife and doing all the things which were necessary to keep the world inside of my FORCE FIELD running smoothly.

And after I got myself together, I could start focusing on everybody else.

Well, this weekend, I’m graduating from Capella University with my PhD in education.

People ask me all the time how I do.

They ask how did I stay so motivated.

They want to know how did I balance sports, life and marriage.

They want to know how I built an fitness, sports and educational business.

And I can understand why they want to know…it’s because some of us are driven and some of us need to be driven. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

It’s like taking a long drive.  You can drive for most of the way and then when you get tired, you need to be driven and then you can pick it up once you get recharged.

Well, right now I want to recharge your life.

If you are thinking about losing weight, going back to school, starting a family, making more money, winning a world championship or losing the deadbeat friends that you have what you need right now is the solution for your problem…..

Well, well, well……Look at yourself now.

What happened.

If you don’t get yourself into some good shape you are going to be even more stressed.

And you can trust me… I KNOW how to handle stress. I workout in the morning, I just finished my Ph.D. studies, I have a wife and a son, I run a business and I watch Fox News everyday and the Bill O’Reilly show just so I can practice regulating my blood pressure.  And I run marathons and 1/2 marathons to pass the time.

Why am I telling you this….well because you DO have enough time to get yourself in great shape even with all of the things that you have to do during the day.

You ask, “How?”

Well, here is a bona fide solution.

I’m Back On It!!!

If you’ve been following me on Facebook, you’ll notice that I started back training with my Dumbbells in the morning.

That’s right - Dumbbells.

I have a pair of 8lb dumbbells and 12lb dumbbells and I get busy in the morning with my dumbbell workout.

And the great thing is that the workout is smooth, easy, yet challenging when I want it to be. And my body is hot….Well, at least my wife thinks so and that’s all that matters when you really get down to it  :-)

Sorry about that… I got a little carried away….. Ahem….. As I was saying, anybody can do my Dumbbell Workout.

As a matter of fact, I jumped back on the dumbbell training program because my doggone shoulders were hurting so bad and I need to increase my strength as well as my range of motion and I need to lift while also getting in a quality cardio workout because when I was writing my dissertation my time was just limited.

So I got back on the dumbbells and started to tighten my body back up.

And guess what…. I want you to get “tight” too.
